In July 2023, I challenged myself to have a go at some royal iced sugar cookies for my nieces 'Under the Sea' themed 2nd birthday party. Where baking had been something I'd grown up doing on weekends and rainy days, it wasn't something I'd thought about turning into a hobby, let alone a business.

I watched hours of YouTube tutorials running up to the birthday party, equipped myself thoroughly at Hobbycraft and shed my first royal icing tears. Learning royal icing comes with a lot of time and whole other level of patience. 

After a few rounds of spreading cookies, underbaked, overbaked, popped icing bags, colour stained t-shirts and lumpy icing down the sink, I managed to create my very first set of themed sugar cookies. It was safe to say I got the bug and from what started as a one off became favours for friends, family, then mutual friends,  strangers and soon after my very own paying customers.
